The Vegetarian
There is no need to explain to you the reasons for a meatless
Thanksgiving. That fact is self-evident that a meatless
Thanksgiving is the true observance of this day. God has been good; let us
give thanks unto him and demonstrate his love and mercy in our actions
towards our ??????? brother. Let Thanksgiving be
a day of thanks for every living creature. By doing the kind and merciful
thing we shall come into a realization of the true spirit of this day of
prayer.
To show how to dispense with the usual corpse which tradition pictures as the symbol of Thanksgiving, I have prepared some recipes from which I know you will be able to select the most tempting menu for our national day of thanks.
And here a caution -- don't over-eat, because in that case the stomach does not rejoice and give thanks, but is disconsolate. Now, all together to make this Thanksgiving Day a day of independence from custom and heathen tradition. Let's take a fraction of what we usually lavish on the corpse of a turkey, and buy a few real foods, pleasing both to the body and soul.--"."
