The Nevada side was so disappointing. At Heavenly, they only had iceberg salad if you were in NV. No veggie burgers. The casino hotels weren't much better. At least they had a salad bar, baked potatoes, pinto beans (for the nacho bar) and steamed veggies. Quite a bummer to pay $15.00 (I think) for the buffet and then only eat salad.
California was a little better. At least you could get a veggie burger on the CA side of Heavenly. There were some more veg-friendly restaurants farther down the strip but we did not have transportation which was why we were sort of stuck with the buffet at the hotel. Buses only ran so late so riding the bus to dinner did not seem to be an option. Maybe this would have been different if we had our own transportation. They did have a Jamba Juice within walking distance but skiing and juice fasting at the same time is probably not a very good idea.
This came as quite a surprise with the clientele a place like Lake Tahoe would have. Won't be rushing back any time soon.
If you go ... be sure you have a car. But my true advice .... go to Aspen instead! |
